Minecraft player builds incredible 700 blocks tall sci-fi Nether portal

A Minecraft player and Reddit user named RealRoasterToaster posted an image on the Mincraftbuilds subreddit, where players post images and videos of their creations. The image shows a large sci-fi nether portal that looks more like a hyper-drive ship. The original poster mentioned that the entire build is around 700 blocks tall. The post was tagged as a “megabuild” and its scale is a testament to that.

Reacting to this build, user u/igrokman asked whether the nether portal is functional or just for show. They also asked how big the spaceships were, and if they had a proper interior. The original poster replied that the portal was functional in the sense that one could travel to the nether dimension using it.

However, they added that this cannot be replicated in survival mode as the portals were made using World Edit. The shape and size will not work in survival mode. The original poster also mentioned that the smaller spaceship is 41 blocks long, and the bigger one is 71 blocks long.

User u/JustAFleshWound1 asked if the structure had been built in the Vanilla version of the game as they could not figure out where the rectangular portal in this build was.

User u/Dolphin_Dan_2 said that this could not be the Vanilla version as normal Minecraft worlds are only 384 blocks tall. They said the original poster probably used a modded version and used commands to place the portal blocks.

Another user named u/Amethystea said that the portals could be just using purple glass to give the effect of a large nether portal. The original poster replied that they used a datapack to increase the build limit in the game, and they used World Edit commands as well.
