Minecraft has many different structures that spawn in their designated locations. Ruined nether portals, desert temples, and ocean monuments are some examples. Sometimes, however, these structures are formed in bizarre locations and when players discover them, they tend to share their find with the game’s community.
A Minecraft player and Reddit user named u/Admirable-Basis-6951 shared a couple of images on the game's subreddit. The pictures show a fossil structure made out of bonemeal. While they are not extremely rare or special, what makes this find unique is its location. The player found it on the surface, which is very rare.
Reacting to this special discovery, user u/_Rydnar_ said ever since these structures were implemented in the game, they have never found one in any of their survival worlds. They also suggested building a museum around it with different dinosaur skeletons:

Another user named u/ThisIsNotReallyIsIt said even they tried finding one but never came across it despite using maps and trying out other methods:
User u/Knautical_J said they found one fossil floating in a cave in the overworld, which was an odd sight. The user claimed to find more in the nether as well.
User u/Verbindungsfehle asked for the seed of this world. However, user u/invisafehz joked saying that the structure is called fossil and not “seed.” They also added that it is way too big to be a seed. Another user named u/randomlemon9192 agreed with the joke.
User u/Twiztidtech0207 said that they would make a little house out of that fossil for sure, while u/IHeartRadiation echoed their sentiment. The latter said they often dig them up or even generate them in their creative world.
Another user named u/Excellent_Milk_3265 said they have never found a fossil in the overworld, although u/Draugr_irl claimed to have found chunks of bone blocks in the nether but never in the shape of dinosaur ribs.
The underground world of Minecraft
In Minecraft, players can discover rare structures and items underground while exploring caves and digging through layers. A major part of the gameplay is mining, so exploring the underground is absolutely essential. There are many important resources found there, such as diamonds and redstone.
However, players can also expect to see some interesting structures while exploring the dark underworld. Ruined portals can generate, partially buried underground. These structures contain obsidian blocks, netherrack, and chests. Chests contain loot, such as gold tools, golden armor, and enchanted items.
Other than that, amethyst geodes are spherical structures with amethyst blocks, calcite, and smooth basalt. They spawn underground and are a key source of amethyst crystals used to craft spy glasses and tinted glass.
