Minecraft has many blocks and items that players can use. These range from the bucket that surprisingly negates fall damage when used properly to redstone that can be used to make mind-blowing structures. However, there’s one infamous block that has been added to the game without any use for it; the fletching table. This block was added to the game almost five years ago and the developers still haven't found a proper use for it. It can only be used by the villagers as an occupational block but that’s it.
A Minecraft player and Reddit user called PowerPork shared an interesting post on the subreddit of the game showing how the fletching table can be used to create unique tipped arrows with different effects. The idea was to have four slots, three of which would be filled with wood, feather, and flint. The last slot will be available for various items that will give a special effect to the arrows.
An example was to add glowstone dust to the arrow to make a spectral arrow. The difference was that these arrows would be cheaper to make and would also deal more damage to the mob apart from the highlighting effect they normally have.

Another interesting example was using Nether quartz to make a special tipped arrow that can travel underwater without slowing down. This would make underwater combat more fun and beating those pesky Guardians a bit easier. Other examples included Redstone arrows, amethyst arrows, and even honey arrows!
The game’s community reacted to this brilliant idea that made the fletching table not only useful but also fun. User well-ok-I-am-in commented that if it isn’t going to be added to the game, at least make a mod of it. The original poster replied that they did not know how to make mods but permitted anyone who could make it.
It seemed that a lot of people wanted to have this turned into a playable mod. User Alex20041509 also commented that the idea was super cool and suggested turning it into a mod. They also mentioned that they could have done it if they had the time to do it.
The original poster replied that they would not mind if someone else turned it into a mod. Alex20041509 replied back saying they would try to make the mod and also asked the original poster to post the idea on MCreator and their subreddit for help.
Another user named tukg0 gave the idea of adding torch arrows that would light up dark areas without going into the dark to place torches. User Jarlax1e added that spectral arrows should give off light like a torch.
Minecraft fletching table needs a use
Having an interesting block in the game but without any use defeats the purpose of having it. While the developers at Mojang Studios do take their time to add features to the game, for example, the bundle was announced way back in 2020 and only getting added to the game by the end of this year.
Mojang Studios has a great block that they can use to make the game even more interesting. If only they could come up with something interesting with the fletching table and add it to Minecraft in the upcoming update, it would certainly make a lot of gamers happy.
