Minecraft might seem like a simple game of crafting items and exploring the blocky world. But that is far from true. The title comes with powerful and interesting features, such as commands that allow players to use the game mechanics in interesting ways.
A Minecraft player and Reddit user named u/kamekaptain shared an interesting video on the game's subreddit. The seven-minute video shows the player flying around a biome using an elytra. With the use of a command block, they were able to flatten the area and delete the terrain as they flew. This is certainly one of the most interesting ways of using commands in the blocky world.
Reacting to this video, user u/Salad3001 said that this is what the ender dragon sees when it uses its powerful attack to clear out the surrounding areas.

Another user, u/SychroniseG, thought the trick looked cool. According to them, using a smaller radius would be more dynamic and go easy on the computer as well, reducing the performance load.
However, some players had a different take on it. User u/samyruno believed that a smaller radius would result in the player crashing into the wall as some parts won’t get cleared at such speeds.
User u/Elihzap said that perhaps the original poster was using a mod a data pack or even an add-on that scaled the radius with the speed of movement. They also added that it is unlikely this could be done using just commands.
Another user named u/Ok-Brilliant-5121 believed that this would look even better with a smaller and rounded shape of area clearing. This would make it look as if a giant worm was carving the mountains, the user said.
Using commands in Minecraft
Minecraft commands provide a powerful way for players to interact with the game world beyond its usual mechanics. These commands allow players to perform various actions, from modifying the environment to getting specific items instantly.
To clear terrain, players can use the /fill command. This command allows them to replace a specific area with air or other materials. For example, entering /fill x1 y1 z1 x2 y2 z2 air removes all blocks in the defined area. Similarly, the /setblock command is useful for placing or replacing individual blocks at specific coordinates.
The /give command enables players to obtain items directly. By entering /give [player] [item] [amount], players can receive tools, resources, or even rare items. Here's an example of how to use the /give command:
/give @p diamond 10
This command will give the nearest player ten diamonds. They can also modify game rules using commands like /gamemode to switch between survival, creative, adventure, or spectator modes. However, using commands disables achievements for that game session.
Gamers who wish to re-enable achievements must either turn off cheats when creating the world or reset Minecraft.
