When players first spawn in a Minecraft world, they are offered a nearly endless in-game map, with loads of mobs, blocks, and items to play around with. The sandbox also has an underlying story and progression that players can explore. In the process of completing the game's story, explorers usually fight and kill loads of mobs.
That said, when the entire process of finishing Mincraft's story is taken into account, players only need to kill two mobs to make it to the end: Blaze and Ender Dragon. This way, they can even speedrun the game.

Minecraft speedrunners only need to kill two mobs to finish it's story
Blaze
If the main objective for a player is to complete Minecraft's storyline, they aim to get to the End as soon as possible, with the bare minimum resources to kill the dragon.
To get into a stronghold, they need to find one in the Overworld, which is a rare structure generated deep underground. Though players can use a fixed seed and quickly get to a stronghold, the other natural way of finding it is by using the eyes of ender.
The eyes of ender are made of blaze rods and ender pearls. Though ender pearls are dropped by Enderman when they are killed, it can also be obtained by trading gold with piglins in the Nether. Speedrunners often head to the Nether as quickly as possible to trade with piglins using the gold they found in the Bastion Remnant structure.
Hence, the only non-boss mob that players need to kill is Blaze, since they drop blaze rods that are essential to complete Minecraft's storyline.
Ender Dragon
Ender Dragon is the final boss mob that players need to defeat if they want to complete Minecraft's underlying story. The beast resides in the third and last dimension of the game: The End. This realm can be entered through a special portal situated inside a stronghold. The portal needs the eyes of ender to be activated.
As soon as players enter the End realm, the fight against the Ender Dragon begins. There are several ways to defeat the boss mob. Players can either use weapons like swords, axes, and bows or use the popular bed explosion tactic. Similar to the Nether, beds also explode in the End realm. Several beds can be obtained from a village.
When the dragon perches down to the bedrock fountain in the middle of the main End island, players can place beds and then use them to create a massive explosion. Doing this repeatedly will damage the dragon and eventually kill it.
As soon as the dragon dies, the bedrock fountain will convert into an end portal that will teleport players back to the Overworld after the end credits.
