Minecraft 1.21, also known as Tricky Trials, brought many new and interesting items for players to find and craft. There are a range of things players can experiment with, including new paintings, armor trims, weapons, mob drops, music discs, banner patterns, potions, and more. However, this also begs the question of which of these items is the hardest to find.

This article provides fans with a list of the seven rarest 1.21 items found in Minecraft, with explanations of the items' rarity and in-game uses.

The seven rarest items in Minecraft Tricky Trials

7) Heavy core and "Creator" music disc

The seventh-rarest 1.21 item is the heavy core. This item is required to craft the new Minecraft mace weapon, making it by far the most important piece of loot to hunt for. They can be found within ominous vaults, rarely seen within trial chambers. There's a 7.5% chance for an ominous vault to drop a heavy core when opened.

The other Tricky Trials item with a 7.5% drop chance is the "Creator" music disc. This item also drops from ominous vaults, adding to the similarities it has with the heavy core.

6) Bolt armor trim

The sixth rarest Tricky Trials item is a Minecraft armor-smithing template. Aptly called the bolt armor trim, this item adds several decorative bolts to the armor it's applied to. This gives the illusion that the armor is several large plates being held together. This trim is found in 6.3% of regular vaults.

5) Mace enchantments

All three new Minecraft mace enchantments can be found as loot from ominous vaults. At 6.1%, Density and Breach share the same chances of dropping as enchanted books. Density makes the mace deal additional damage from falls, while Breach reduces the effectiveness of armor on the damage that a mace deals.

It's also fitting that these two weapon enchantments share a drop chance, as they are mutually exclusive. That means that only one can be put on a mace at any given time.

4) Guster banner pattern

Banners are interesting decorative and utility items. Their main use is as a piece of decoration to add visual flair to Minecraft's best builds. Custom patterns can be built up on them, allowing for complex custom designs. Additionally, banners can be placed on shields to personalize them.

The fourth most rare item in all of 1.21 is a banner pattern that can be used to design future banners. This is the guster pattern, which resembles the breeze mobs found exclusively within trial chambers. This banner pattern drops from 4.6% of opened vaults.

3) "Precipice" music disc

1.21's third most rare item is also the final Minecraft vault drop. This rare drop is the "Precipice" music disc, the second-rarest of the three discs added with the update. It drops from 3.6% of vaults opened by players and is one of the rarest items to get from vaults. Tridents are the only item with a smaller drop chance from vaults, at a meager 1.8%.

2) Wind burst books

The second most rare item in all of 1.21 is Minecraft's wind burst enchantment. This enchantment cannot be obtained via the enchanting table. Instead, the enchantment can be found in book form as loot from three percent of ominous vaults.

This enchantment allows players to pogo back up into the air after landing a smash attack with the mace. This helps them chain attacks together for as long as there are Minecraft mobs to damage, introducing a whole new way of fighting.

1) "Creator (Music Box)" music disc

The rarest item in 1.21, by far, is the "Creator (Music Box)" music disc. This makes this the rarest of the new music discs to find, but thankfully it drops as loot from 1.4% of decorated pots. Trial chambers have dozens of these pots, which helps make up for the low drop chance.

Players are going to want to break these decorated pots anyway, as there are three new pottery sherds among them. These sherds can be combined with the ones collected via Minecraft archeology to make even more personalized pots.
