Minecraft released one of the most unique creatures called Creaking in the new The Garden Awakens drop. This mob was introduced in September 2024 and impressed millions of players with its unique mechanics. Since the creature only hunts players when they are not looking at it, players discussed how a higher FOV setting could give them an advantage.

After the official release of the Creaking mob, however, it was discovered that the mob would continue to hunt after a certain point, irrespective of the FOV.

First, it's critical to understand how the new mob hunts at night. One of Creaking's unique traits is that when it spawns in the Pale Garden, it will only pursue and attack you if you are not looking at it. To put it differently, when the Creaking disappears from your screen, it will start going after you.

Because of this, the Creaking is among the most fascinating mobs Mojang has ever added to Minecraft. The wood-like creature will sneak up on you and deal one heart's worth of damage when you least expect it.

If you manage to keep the Creaking visible and relatively in the middle of the screen, it will not attack. However, there is a catch to its mechanics.

The Creaking continues to hunt while being visible on the highest FOV setting

When experimenting with the Creaking's hunting mechanics, it was discovered that the mob's activation point was set based on the game's default FOV setting, which was 70°. If players set their FOV to 70°, the Creaking will immediately start sneaking as soon as it completely vanishes from the side of the screen.

However, this activation point does not change when you increase the FOV all the way to Quake Pro. This means that even when you use the highest FOV setting, the creature will continue hunting you down — despite being visible on your screen.

In conclusion, the highest FOV does not help stop the Creaking. The only advantage increasing it will have is that you can keep an eye on the creature, even if it is hunting, allowing you to plan your next move or direction.
