Mojang Studios recently revealed the new Creaking mob for Minecraft's Winter update in their annual live event. In this event, they showcased how the mob would spawn in the brand-new Pale Garden biome, which is a spooky region with nothing but pale oak trees and no sound apart from wood creaking. The Creaking itself has a scary mechanic and only spawns at night.

Though the new mob might look horrifying, it is not too deadly when players encounter it, especially when compared to other scary beasts in Minecraft. Below, we explore some reasons why the Creaking mob is not as scary as it looks.

Reasons why Creaking mob looks scary but is not so when players encounter it in Minecraft

Creaking's weak attacks

One of the main reasons why the Creaking mob is not as dangerous and scary as it looks is because of its attack damage. While the mob is taller and bigger than a regular player, it has one of the weakest attacks in the entire game.

When players are not looking at the Creaking, the creature will sneak toward them and start attacking. However, the attack itself only tanks one heart if players are not wearing any armor whatsoever. Furthermore, the attack speed is slower than most basic hostile mobs.

It is safe to say that Creaking will jump-scare a few people simply because of its movement, eerie sound, and horrifying three yellow eyes, but its attack won't raise any alarms. If players have full netherite armor, they can take multiple Creakings with ease and destroy their hearts one by one.

If we compare Creaking to the last scary mob Mojang added, the Warden, it looks extremely easy to deal with. Warden's melee and ranged attacks can deal multiple hearts of damage, even if players are wearing full netherite armor. Even regular hostile mobs like Creeper, skeletons, wither skeletons, blazes, pillagers, etc. can deal more damage than the Creaking.

Despite all these reasons, it is worth mentioning that the Creaking is currently under development and that Mojang could still add more strength to the new mob before it officially releases in the Winter Drop.

Creaking's other unique mechanics explained

Creaking is a new unique mob in Minecraft that will spawn in the new Pale Garden biomes. Like all other hostile mobs in the Overworld, it will spawn as soon as darkness falls. It won't be impacted by other mobs and will remain inactive in its original location once it spawns. It will, however, activate itself and begin pursuing the player if one arrives in its detection zone.

The inability of Creaking to move as long as players can see it on their screen is one of its most distinctive aspects.

The Creaking's inability to take harm from melee or ranged strikes is another unique quality. This is because its heart is essentially a block that is concealed within one of the pale oak trees in the biome. The instant players destroy the heart, the mob disintegrates and vanishes. It is worth mentioning that Creaking does not drop anything when it is killed.
