Decades after its release, Minecraft continues to be one of the most popular games in the world. With such a long history, the game has some really interesting Easter eggs that many players are not even aware of. One of the most commonly known Easter eggs is naming a sheep “Jeb_” using the name tag. This makes the wool color of the sheep cycle through all the wool colors in the game. But there’s one Easter egg that is not known to many. It is called the “Toast” or “Toast the Bunny” Easter egg.

In this article, we will explain everything about the “Toast the Bunny” Easter egg in Minecraft, from its origin to what it does in the game.

Like many of the Easter eggs in the game, the Toast Easter egg can be found when using a name tag on an animal. When you place a name tag on a rabbit and name it “Toast,” it changes the texture of the bunny, giving it a black-and-white appearance. On the surface level, one might wonder why changing the name gives the rabbit this particular appearance. However, there is an interesting story behind it.

During the development of the rabbit mob in the game, a user named xyzen420 asked the developer, Ryan Holtz, to create a white bunny with black spots on it. This was because the user wanted the rabbit to look like his girlfriend’s lost bunny, Toast. The developer agreed and added this sweet Easter egg. Hence, the bunny’s texture changes color to commemorate the lost bunny.

But there’s more to the Easter egg. You can again change the name of the bunny to “Killer Bunny”. While this will not change the way it looks, the bunny can attack you. Dying by this bunny’s attack will result in the message saying, "The player was killed by Toast."

This is one of the many interesting Easter eggs in the game. Another popular one is called ‘Dinnerbone.’ Any mob that is named ‘Dinnerbone’ using a name tag will turn upside down. Dinnerbone is actually the username of one of the game’s developers.

With the Tricky Trials update out, it would be interesting to see what other Easter eggs the developers will add in the upcoming updates. Hopefully, we might see something related to Technloblade as he was one of the most-loved Minecraft creators who passed away a few years ago.
