Minecraft will bid farewell to a part of its player base in 2025

Minecraft was started as a small project, with the developers hoping it'd be something new and fun. In just a few years, it turned into a global phenomenon with millions of players. Now, the game is available on multiple devices — including PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox, and smartphones.

Available on so many platforms, the title has a large player base. Unfortunately, a part of this community will stop getting updates for the game. Mojang Studios recently announced that it will end Minecraft VR support after March 2025. That means those who play this version of the game will have to stop using virtual reality or mixed reality devices if they want the latest updates.

Minecraft VR is an experience like no other. Seeing the title's content up close makes the gameplay feel more immersive and fighting dangerous mobs scarier.

This version of the game was released in 2016. Now, as virtual reailty technology continues to improve, Mojang Studios has decided to stop supporting it with updates after March 2025. This is despite the title being compaitble with almost all popular devices — such as PlayStation VR, Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality and Meta Quest.

It's worth noting that those who use a VR headset to play Minecraft will not lose their access to the game once the virtual reality support ends. They will still get to enter their saved worlds. Players will also have access to all the items they purchased in this particular version of the game. However, they won't get the latest updates after March 2025.
