The latest Minecraft snapshot 25w02a is out now and apart from introducing new features such as falling leaves and a multiverse of pigs, the experimental build also made certain changes to existing gameplay mechanics. Players who dove into this build realized that Mojang has completely overhauled the movement system, much to their dismay.
User @itmgalt discovered that the Minecraft snapshot 25w02a has disabled or modified many existing movement features, including crouch sprinting and sideways sprinting. They posted a video showcasing the changes that could majorly affect players who enjoyed parkour experiences or slowbridging in the game, with a caption that said:
"Mojang pls stop doing this"

Reacting to this, user greetings_fr_me clarified that this was not a bug but an intentional feature and gameplay mechanic change implemented in the latest snapshot:
User @FreakFlameYT further stated this change massively impacted a feature that parkour players had gotten used to. They also thought it was a rather unnecessary change:
Meanwhile, some users wondered why it was necessary to remove such an old bug, with one opining that resolving these decade-old bugs was the opposite of a QOL change. Another felt like Mojang wanted to remove the fun side of parkour in Minecraft:
Many complained that this change made movement mechanics significantly worse, affecting not just parkour experiences but also regular gameplay. Interestingly, a user jokingly compared this new movement to the one seen in Bedrock. @SpiralsInTime pointed out that this would make the game unplayable since they were used to this feature for decades:
A major part of the community was displeased with this sudden change in the movement mechanics. Many users pointed out that it was unfair to change a bug so late after it had essentially become a feature. Many players were using this old bug to enjoy regular experiences and participate in the massively popular parkour maps in Minecraft.

Why is parkour so popular in Minecraft
Parkour is extremely popular in Minecraft because it essentially allows players to navigate a host of complex obstacle courses using carefully calculated moves and movement styles such as the recently addressed crouch sprint. There are a host of custom worlds, maps, and servers that allow players to engage in this game mode.
Additionally, players can also create their own obstacle courses using a host of blocks present in the game, including the implementation of redstone-based traps, obstacles, and more. The creative community has found a host of ways to transform the sandbox into a fun and engaging experience besides the regular building, crafting, and yearning for the mines.
