New Minecraft beta and preview brings changes to trial chambers

Mojang Studios recently released Minecraft 1.21.30.21, a new beta and preview version for Bedrock Edition that brings some major changes to trial chambers. Trial chambers were released recently, with the 1.21 update in June 2024. Hence, the developers are still focusing on improving it. Below are some of the major changes for trial chambers that arrived in Minecraft beta and preview version 1.21.30.21.

When players explore trial chambers in the Minecraft 1.21 update, they will find various loot in chests, trial vaults, barrels, and more. However, several of those chests are usually empty. At first, this was quite confusing to the playerbase, but they soon understood that these chests were intentionally kept empty for players to dump all the unwanted loot picked up while exploring trial chambers.

In the new structure, players can pick up lots of unwanted loot like bones, spider eyes, bricks, and more. If they do not want to use these items, they can be conveniently placed in one of the empty chests. This way, explorers can pick up more important loot.

In the latest Minecraft beta and preview version 1.21.30.21, Mojang Studios converted these chests into hoppers and barrels. This contraption's aim will remain the same, but it will now be easier for players to dump less useful items on top of hoppers rather than transferring them to a chest.

The barrels present underneath these hoppers will not have any loot, similar to empty chests.

One of Mojang Studios' developers, Brandon 'kingbdogz' Pearce, added some lore to this change through his official X account. He wrote that whoever made the trial chambers was quite the tinkerer in their method. Hence, they created hoppers and barrels instead of a simple chest.

It is worth mentioning that these changes will also arrive in Java Edition snapshots at a later date. The changes will officially be released in both editions.

Other smaller changes in trial chambers

In the official changelog of Minecraft 1.21.30.21 beta and preview version, Mojang Studios mentioned all the other smaller and bigger changes that arrived for trial chambers. Below is the list of all the changes:

• Added new variations to the hallways, including "Encounters": Short challenges leading to a larger chamber.
• Beds in intersections now have their colors randomized. (MCPE-180424)
• Fixed multiple trial chamber templates having missing or incorrect blocks (MCPE-176952)
• Fixed inaccessible traps that can generate behind walls in the Trial Chamber (MCPE-180912)
• Some slime trial spawners in trial chambers won't spawn slimes without player intervention
• Fixed Ominous Vault that may fail to generate in Pedestal and chamber_1/2

Players can download the latest beta and preview version from their respective device's app store. The game's beta and preview versions will be searchable and downloadable if the player already owns the official Bedrock or Pocket Edition.
