New Minecraft movie leaks reveal Jack Black as Steve and plot details

Minecraft is getting its first live-action movie in 2025 with some major names taking the lead roles such as Jack Black and Jason Mamoa. While there have been a couple of updates from official sources, nothing major was revealed about the project, until now.

A supposedly leaked image has been doing rounds on the internet showing what the movie might look like. The two images show the design for mobs and Steve, played by Jack Black. Before fans get their hopes high (or low, if they do not like the look), remember that these are leaked images with no reliable source. Take all of it with a grain of salt.

Movie leaks are common these days. It was expected that the Minecraft movie might also get some leaks. Note that all these leaks could turn out fake. But we can expect more leaks in the upcoming months as the makers prepare for a trailer release. In the leaks, we got a glimpse of the creeper, the sheep, and the bee mob. The mobs have a mix of realistic and animated looks, which sort of makes them look uncanny.

The other image shows Jack Black wearing Steve's classic colors from Minecraft, carrying a stone pickaxe. The images also feature some snippets about the character, revealing that Steve will have a pet dog wolf named Dennis. It also says that an evil person/entity named Malgosha took Steve’s pet wolf.

The images showing Steve look a bit odd as one can see Jack Black with his beard, and realistic-looking pickaxe. It might put many fans off as it does not look like the game. But the good news is that these leaks might be fake or even outdated. Seeing Jack Black with his long beard, it might be that these were test images taken before the filming started. So it's okay if they look a little unrefined.

Coming to the movie, we do know that Jack Black will be playing the character of Steve and it will be released on April 4, 2025. As confirmed in an interview by Jack Black, the movie will focus on Steve's origin story and will establish many new characters as well.

While there is no date announced, we can expect to get a trailer for the movie or even a teaser by October. Since there are a lot of things going on for Minecraft, including the MC Championship, perhaps we will get more updates about the movie once other things hunker down.
