Minecraft's Tricky Trials update has finally arrived, and Mojang is commemorating the release of its latest major content update with free Character Creator items. Players enjoying the update on Bedrock Edition can access these items via the marketplace and download them to use in the Character Creator and Dressing Room features. Mojang confirmed multiple cosmetics would be released.

Based on Mojang's announcement, it appears that Minecraft Bedrock players will be able to redeem a chest piece, a mask, and a set of leg cosmetics for free as part of the Tricky Trials celebration. Since this is the case, it doesn't hurt to examine how they can claim these free cosmetics upon their release.

Although the free cosmetics made available for Minecraft Tricky Trials are technically claimed via the marketplace, one of the quickest ways to claim them is to use the very Dressing Room feature where the cosmetics can be equipped. Below, you can claim the new Tricky Trials items in Bedrock Edition with these steps:

  1. Open the game and ensure you're logged into your Microsoft account.
  2. Select the Dressing Room from the main menu.
  3. On the left sidebar, click the Character Creator icon (the icon resembles the default Steve skin).
  4. Click the style tab, then select either tops, bottoms, or headwears depending on which cosmetic you'd like to claim.
  5. Scroll past the owned and featured cosmetics until you reach the "all" section, find the free Trial Top/Bottom/Headwear, and click its thumbnail.
  6. To the right of the window, click the button that reads "free" to claim the item, which can now be equipped in the Dressing Room/Character Creator whenever you'd like.

That's all there is to it! Note that Mojang is currently rolling out the new Tricky Trials cosmetics over time, so keep an eye on the Character Creator or Minecraft's social media channels to ensure you claim them all. According to Mojang, the new cosmetics will have a release window of 30 days, so you should have plenty of time to collect them.

Overall, it's nice to see Mojang providing players with a little extra appreciation for their patience in the lead-up to the release of the Tricky Trials update. Not every player may be particularly fond of in-game cosmetics, but free content is there to be had for those who appreciate what the Character Creator offers in Bedrock Edition.
