Minecraft is finally getting a native version for the PlayStation 5 today. After almost four years since the release of the PlayStation 5, players have been waiting for Mojang Studios to release a PS5 version of the game. It might seem unnecessary to release a native version of the game for the new console as Minecraft is not demanding. However, there are special features of the next-gen console that the developers can utilize to make the blocky game more immersive and fun.

Here’s everything about the PlayStation 5 version of Minecraft and what new things it brings to the table.

In a blog post on their official website, Mojang Studios announced the release of the PlayStation 5 version of Minecraft to be released on October 22. As of this writing, the game is out for download and can be installed from the official PlayStation store. One can find the game by simply searching for it and then selecting the PS5 version of the game.

Coming to the price of the game, both the PS4 and the PS5 versions are priced at $19.99. It also means that players who already own the PS4 version of the game can simply upgrade to the newer version for free.

The newer version of the game comes with some major upgrades. Since the PS5 is considerably faster than the PS4, the developers have made the new version of Minecraft capable of using up the powerful hardware. It allows for better and greater render distance while running the game at an impressive 4K resolution. The game can also be run at 60 frames per second even at 4K resolution.

Since all consoles get the Bedrock edition of the game, players can install add-ons, skin packs, and other content from the Marketplace. Users can also get the experimental features that include the Creaking mob, the Pale Garden biome, the Creaking Heart, and the Pale Oak tree.

For players who do not own either version of the game, they will have to buy it. Since they are priced the same, PS5 users should just go with the upgraded version of the game. This is worth noting as there is usually some disparity in the pricing of other games for different consoles with the PS4 version being slightly cheaper.
