Minecraft 1.21 update was recently released and it added a new item called wind charges. These are new projectile items that are primarily used by breeze mobs as their weapon in trial chambers. However, players can also obtain and use them through breeze rods. They can use wind charges on themselves to get a massive jump boost.

However, there is one armor enchantment that can completely negate wind charge's special effect. That enchantment is blast protection.

How blast protection armor enchantment negates wind charge effect in Minecraft

How to obtain and use wind charges?

Back in October 2023, Mojang Studios introduced the new Minecraft 1.21 update and showcased many of its features. One of them was the new breeze mob that would spawn exclusively in new trial chambers. These mobs shoot wind charges.

When the developers released snapshots, these projectiles were not obtainable by players. However, breeze mobs started dropping them in the future. When the mace weapon was introduced, breeze mobs started dropping breeze rods instead of wind charges themselves. Breeze rods can simply be placed in a crafting to get wind charges.

After obtaining them, wind charges can be thrown towards any entity to knock them away. These can be used in dire situations where several hostile mobs surround a player.

Alternatively, players can also use it underneath themselves to get a massive jump boost.

Blast protection is a common enchantment that players can get from enchanting tables or enchantment books as chest loot. This powerup, as the name suggests, drastically reduces any knockback effect taken from a hit, particularly from projectiles like ghast fireballs, arrows, etc.

After the 1.21 update, the list of projectiles increased as wind charge was added. Hence, the blast protection also started negating any effect the new projectile had.

If a player has a fourth level of blast protection on any armor part, wind charges will have little to no effect on them. Furthermore, for those who have a god armor and multiple blast protections, wind charges almost become useless.

The only way for players to properly use Minecraft wind charge is to either not have blast protection on their armor or remove some of them to use it once.
