One Minecraft item you should definitely have in hardcore mode

In Minecraft, players need to survive for as long as possible. While the regular survival mode allows players to respawn an infinite number of times and attempt to progress again, hardcore mode is a whole different beast. In this particular mode, players are not allowed to respawn even once if they die. They can only spectate the world or leave to create a new one.

In simple terms, the Totem of Undying is an ultra-rare and valuable item in Minecraft that essentially gives players another chance even after dying. What's more important is that this feature also applies in hardcore mode.

Since one-time death becomes the toughest challenge in hardcore mode, Totems of Undying arguably become the most important item in Minecraft.

Players can use the valuable item in scenarios where they are on the verge of death. It is worth noting that players will need to hold the totem for it to function. It won't work if it simply stays in one's inventory or the hot bar. Most times, players keep the totem in the off-hand and use other items and blocks from the main hand.

With the totem in their hands, players won't have to look for the item if they enter a dire situation. The totem will vanish and be unavailable for usage after it has been used to raise the player back from the dead.

How to find Totem of Undying in Minecraft

Since the Totem of Undying is an extremely powerful item, it is not easy to find in Minecraft. It is only obtainable from an Evoker Illager. These are deadly hostile mobs that attack with magic and must be defeated. These mobs are encountered by players in village raids and at Woodland Mansion.

Evokers will always drop one Totem of Undying when they pass away. However, the amount of totems dropped is unaffected by looting or any other kind of enchantment. Upon dying, they might also give a few emeralds.

Since Totems of Undying cannot be crafted or obtained from chest loot, the only way to get them is to fight and defeat Evokers in Woodland Mansions or village raids.
