Minecraft's 1.21 update, also known as Tricky Trials, is drawing closer, and it looks like its key art may have been partially leaked. The leak was noted by the game's official wiki's X account, which pointed out that Mojang/Microsoft employee Ryan Cooper temporarily changed their X profile's banner to a very official-looking piece of key art using the Tricky Trials update's logo.

Although the art was partially cropped to fit the X profile headline, Minecraft fans seemed very impressed with what the key art displayed.

Cooper would later remove the profile header art and replace it with a standard one depicting Tricky Trials' logo against a blue-green background, but not before fans got an eyeful of what might be one of the most official artworks for the 1.21 update so far.

If nothing else, this seemingly subtle oversight by a Mojang/Microsoft employee may have garnered even more excitement for the Tricky Trials update. Moreover, if the key art is indeed real, it may be a sign that the speculated June 7, 2024, release date for the update is accurate.

Minecraft fans likely won't have to wait much longer for the 1.21 update

Since the last few Minecraft updates debuted on June 7 of their respective years, it's hard not to think that the Tricky Trials update will follow suit barring unforeseen circumstances.

The seemingly accidental release of what certainly seems like key art for the 1.21 update may be another sign that fans are only a few days away from being able to experience the game's new version in its entirety on all platforms.

None of this is guaranteed of course, but all signs seem to point to an early June release for the update. Minecraft's 15th-anniversary event is ongoing, and many fans have speculated that Mojang may very well make an official release date announcement before it ends on May 29, 2024. Once more, this isn't a given, but the writing does seem to be on the wall to a degree.

Hopefully, fans won't have to wait much longer to finally have a concrete answer as to when the 1.21 update will arrive. Since it was announced during Minecraft Live 2023, fans have been patient. Every small art leak or information release from Mojang brings fans just a bit closer to the update. Still, some may be growing impatient, but the developer knows its content scheduling quite well at this point.

In the next few days, a heavy dose of news surrounding Mojang's sandbox title may be arriving. Even if it turns out that the latest leak wasn't real, fans should be able to see the key art that Mojang officially implements as the presumptive final days count down to the Tricky Trials update's release.
