Saturation of features in Minecraft's Overworld could make End a less traveled realm

Ever since Minecraft's release in 2011, Mojang has been adding loads of new features to the game. Though they have added features to all three realms, recently they have only focused on the Overworld. After the Nether update in 2019, the developer has mainly added new features to the first realm of the game, completely ignoring the others.

An argument can be made that, as of now, the Overworld has so many new features and places to explore, that players might not be too eager to enter the End realm and travel the desolate dimension at all.

Oversaturated Overworld could make the End realm feel even more boring in Minecraft

Overworld is saturated with features

In 2020, Mojang announced the Caves and Cliffs update where they announced a new world generation mechanic by increasing the lowest cave level to Y level -64. This was one of the biggest changes made to the Overworld. In the 1.17 and 1.18 versions, they completely revamped the first realm's terrain to make it slightly amplified.

They added three new cave biomes and also released several new blocks, items, and mobs like Warden, Allays, Sniffer, Frogs, and more. In 1.20 and 1.21, they released even more new structures like trail ruins and trial chambers, bringing brand new loot methods, blocks, and areas to explore.

With all these updates, Mojang has now saturated the Overworld realm to the brim. This can be great for new players, as they will have lots of exploration in the first realm before even opening the Nether portal.

However, this cannot be good for the End realm, particularly because it could feel even more boring compared to the Overworld. The first Minecraft dimension has the most amount of structures, biomes, and mob variations, so much so that the End can feel extremely empty.

Even though the End realm contains some of the best loot and is the last dimension players enter to complete the game, some can still skip it and stick to the first realm only.

Minecraft is in dire need of an End update

Ever since Overworld started receiving major updates, many players in the community started discussing how the End realm should also receive major updates. The playerbase started to feel a major imbalance in the feature list between all three realms.

As Mojang now enters a new development timeline from 2025, it is safe to say that the End needs a major revamp to become as interesting as the Overworld.
