Minecraft is a survival sandbox game completely made out of blocks. While most blocks are made of 16x16x16 pixels, some are extremely small, so much so that one is barely visible to players. Despite not being cubes, these small features are still considered blocks in the game files.
Here are some of the smallest blocks in Minecraft.
List of 5 smallest blocks in Minecraft
5) Brown/Red Mushroom

Brown and red mushrooms are one of the smallest blocks in Minecraft. They are only 8x8x8 in size, with most spaces not filled to make them look like mushrooms. These grow in low-light areas like swamps, old growth spruce taiga, mushroom fields, and Nether.
Since they are generated in bunches, they can be easily visible — players could miss if only one is placed somewhere.
4) Turtle egg
Turtle eggs are even smaller than mushrooms as they are only 4x7x4 in size if only one is placed on a block. If they generate in bunches, other eggs can be even smaller. Turles generate their eggs when they breed with each other. These mobs enter "love mode" when players feed them seagrass.
Once turtle eggs are generated, players must protect them from hostile mobs trying to crush them. It usually takes two to three in-game days for them to hatch successfully and spawn baby turtles.
3) Candle
Candles are even smaller than turtle eggs since their biggest variant measures only 2x7x2. If players plan to place more candles on the same block, others will be much smaller than the first.
Candles are relatively new items that can be made with a string and a honeycomb item. Once a regular candle is crafted, it can be dyed to any color. They can be placed and lit with flint and steel or a burning arrow. Regardless of their size, these blocks can burn for quite some time, dimly illuminating the area.
2) Button
Buttons are among the most common small blocks players can create in Minecraft. They can be made of any wood or stone type and are only 4x2x6, smaller than a candle if placed horizontally.
These small blocks are highly useful in making a door semi-automatic and toggle a redstone contraption. Interestingly, these small buttons can only be crafted using two full wood or stone blocks.
1) String
Strings can be considered the smallest block in the sandbox game. Though it is 16 blocks long when placed on a block, it hardly has any other dimensions. When placed, it barely has any visible pixels, making it harder to spot from a distance. These blocks are usually placed on the floor to create a trap. Hence, it is typically connected to a triphook, which needs to be hidden since it is big enough to get spotted.
If a player walks over the almost invisible string, the triphook will activate and can trigger any redstone contraption it is connected to. This technique is most commonly seen in jungle temples, where players can activate the trap by tripping on strings, and get hurt by arrows shot through dispensers.
