Minecraft recently got a lot of new items, such as bundles, the Creaking Heart, the Pale Garden biome, resin blocks, eye blossom flowers, and much more. The developers are working to keep the game fresh with frequent additions of new content. And it seems that we have a hint at what’s next for the blocky world.
Redditor TM36XSeries shared an image on r/Minecraft, sparking an interesting conversation. The screenshot shows an X post by the game's handle showing a stone. The post's caption also had the rock/stone emoji, indicating the game might get a new block or item.

"They are adding stone to Minecraft"
Dahnlor replied to the same thread, saying it’s clearly a rock. z24561 commented that it isn't just a rock but a boulder.
This was a common theme of the debate with players saying either Minecraft is getting stone as an item, or boulder or rock as a block.
Mr_Audio29 said that for anyone wondering what it is going to be, the stone is magnetite or lodestone. For those unaware, lodestone has magnetic properties, so it would be interesting to see how Mojang integrate a magnet in the game and what type of new game mechanic would be added with it.
WillyDAFISH asked whether the developers are thinking of expanding lodestone in the game and added that it would be very exciting if they did. Piranh4Plant said finally we would finally see some updates in vertical progress.
Minecraft players want new blocks in the game
It's always an exciting time for Minecraft players when the game gets a new item or a mob. In this case, adding new stone types, such as marble or limestone, could offer more texture options for walls and flooring. A new solid block such as stone or rock would be great for all the blocky builders.
The lodestone is already present in Minecraft and has a ton of potential. However, it seems that the block is barely used. It would be interesting to see how the developers expand the blocks in this family. Mojang would soon reveal what new item comes to the game.
This new announcement is in line with the new update structure announced last year. The developers decided to focus on smaller but more frequent updates rather than one major update every year.
