"They are just blocks like everything else": Minecraft fans are in support of adding vertical slabs to the game

Minecraft has survived the turbulent industry of gaming by being not only relevant but also popular for more than 15 years and counting. This is all thanks to the constant updates and tweaks the game gets every year. Having said that, it can sometimes feel as though Mojang is holding the title’s true potential back by not introducing content it truly needs, such as a true wildlife update, a proper combat update, and more.

A Reddit user by the name of Capable-Werewolf4671 recently asked an interesting question on the Minecraft subreddit in this regard. The question concerns the possible addition of vertical slabs to the game and whether it would reduce creativity.

"They are just blocks like everything else"

The user further said there are many mods for vertical slabs in the title and that they do not kill creativity.

According to Redditor Mrs_Noelle15, Mojang should just say that it doesn’t want to make the addition.

User Cephalaspis said vertical slabs will not reduce creativity but rather open a new world of opportunities. They added that technical players would find great ways of using these blocks to make interesting builds.

Redditor Wizardkid11 wrote a long comment about how the developers at Mojang Studios have expressed their issues with adding vertical slabs to Minecraft. According to the user, the developers do not know how to properly implement these blocks. If they add them separately, it would open a floodgate of suggestions that would supposedly be hard to implement.

Another user named Firebug160 said they assumed the blocks would work like the Create mod gearshifts, where horizontal slabs would turn into vertical ones when put into the crafting grid and vice versa.

User blaidd_halfwolf gave a great analogy for vertical slabs. They said a box full of crayons would give someone more creative legroom than having just two individual crayons.

Better updates for Minecraft

Mojang Studios recently released Minecraft Tricky Trials update, which added new mobs, a weapon, and other content to the game. Yet, despite getting the update, many things in the game feel incomplete or outdated. For example, the combat feels unpolished and outdated.

Hopefully, upcoming updates will bring more than just a couple of mobs and add major content that changes how the game is played.
