"They might as well call it the Minecraft horror movie": Fans react as new Minecraft movie leaks reveal realistic mob designs

Minecraft is all set to release its first live-action movie with some of the biggest stars in Hollywood. After months of speculations, we know that Jack Black, who has been a powerhouse in movies such as Kung Fu Panda and Super Mario Bros, will be playing the character of Steve in the movie. Jason Mamoa will be playing a negative role as well.

Recently, a couple of images were leaked on the internet showing how some mobs and Steve’s character will look in the movie, and it seems that fans are not too happy with what they see.

Minecraft player and Reddit user Iloveyuo2 posted the leaked images of how the mobs and Steve might look in the movie on the game’s subreddit. The community had some pretty harsh things to say. It should be noted that the Reddit post in question has since been taken down, but the comments are still up.

A user named Jellie_the_Cat commented saying:

"They might as well call it the Minecraft horror movie."

This comment referred to how the mobs look. The mix of realism and animation puts them in the uncanny valley, especially with how the sheep and the bee look. The user added that the sheep looks wrong but they hope that the Minecraft movie surpasses their expectation.

Another user named CJ33333 commented that the mobs look AI-generated. It is entirely possible that the leaks are just concept designs, and the final designs will look completely different.

User Karma3000 commented that it seems like Mojang Studios is making the movie to just sell toys and merchandise, which is not a good sign for the quality of the movie.

u/cheebzchump said that it was hard for them to say whether the images were fake or not, but they do not like the designs either way. The creeper, in particular, irked them. The original poster replied that the leaked media had been sourced from 4chan, so it could be official.

Minecraft recently got the much-anticipated Tricky Trials update, which added a lot of new items. Mojang also collaborated with many companies, including Beats by Dre, to release special items. Now, fans are preparing for the MC Championship’s Ender Cup that starts on July 27.

So when all of these exciting things are over, we might get more news about the movie that’s scheduled to release on April 4, 2025. Fans are yet to get a trailer or even a teaser for the movie.
