Farming in Minecraft comes in many different forms, but sometimes players would prefer to build farms quickly. Even though they might not get the highest item/block yields, fast farms can be perfect for when users need resources in a pinch and don't have the time or materials to build a massive farm that brings in millions of items/blocks per hour.

With that in mind, it doesn't hurt to take a look at some of the fastest farms players can set up as of Minecraft 1.21. They may not be the most productive, but they won't take long to build and should help gamers get started with a steady resource intake, especially early on in a survival run.

With a few smelters, chests, levers, and hoppers, Minecraft players can easily construct a smelter XP farm in just a few minutes at most. These farms are incredibly simple, smelting items like dried kelp, cookies, baked potatoes, and more, and the levers are used on the smelters to store the smelted items. When activated, they'll deposit the goods into chests and give players XP.

These farms are cheap and don't require nearly any redstone knowledge to set up, making them one of the fastest farms that players can build by quite a wide margin.

4) Entity Cramming Animal Farm

While most animal farms don't tend to take much time to build in Minecraft, this design is incredibly conservative with the space it takes up. Moreover, it requires very little time to build. The farm operates by "cramming" multiple animal mobs into a one-block space and forcing them to breed until the game's Entity Cramming mechanic kicks in, where it will begin killing off excess animals to clear space in the area.

After that, all that's required is to funnel the items dropped by the animals into a hopper and then a storage block. This farm takes less than a few minutes to set up and will provide plenty of food as well as items like leather, eggs, and more.

3) AFK Fish Farm

With an ordinary block, an iron pressure plate, an iron trapdoor, a fence, a hopper, at least one chest, and a water bucket, Minecraft players can set up an AFK fish farm in almost no time at all. The trapdoor opens when the player approaches the pressure plate, allowing them to cast their fishing line into the running water from the waterlogged fence block to collect plenty of fish and treasure-level loot.

2) Miniature Wool Farm

Requiring little more than a few building blocks, a dispenser, an observer, some shears, redstone dust, a hopper, a chest or two, and at least one grass block, players can easily set up a mini wool farm in Minecraft. The farm operates by placing a sheep in an enclosed space on top of a grass block. The sheep will eat the grass and trigger the observer, causing the dispenser to shear it.

From there, the wool blocks will be pulled through the grass block via the hopper and deposited into a storage block like a chest. It's an incredibly simple design, which is exactly why it's one of the fastest farms to build in the game.

1) Nano Crop Farm

This farm design is incredibly simple, only requires minimal redstone knowledge, and will allow players to plant and break crops at blinding speeds thanks to the presence of three dispensers pumping bone meal into a singular farmland space. Micro crop farms can be built in less than 30 seconds when players know how to make them, and they can start running just as quickly.

In just a few minutes, and with a handful of crop seeds and bone meal, players can produce enough crops to keep them fed for the foreseeable future.
