Two Minecraft mobs inspired by spin-off games

Minecraft has a lot of mobs. Some of them are friendly and useful, while others are hostile. The developers add new mobs with updates to fill up the blocky world and keep the game interesting. Mojang Studios often takes inspiration from nature to add mobs. However, some mobs in the main game were inspired directly by those found in the spin-off games.

This article will look at the two mobs in Minecraft that were directly inspired by spin-off games such as MC Dungeons, Legends, and even MC Earth.

Allays and Glow squids in Minecraft

The two mobs inspired by spin-offs of the original game are allays and glow squids. While these two mobs are not important in an impactful way, like a cow or a wolf, they surely add to the game's vibrance. Many players might not have even seen allays as they can only be found at pillager outposts.

Allays are helpful mobs that can be used in an interesting way. When a player gives an item, it picks it up. After that, it will look for the same item around a 32-block radius around the player. Allays were announced in 2021 and added to the Java Edition with the 1.19 update.

The Allay mob was inspired by the wisp mob found in MC Dungeons. Wisps look similar to the allays with the exception of having a ghastly appearance. They even behave similarly. Wisps will fly around special areas that can be interacted with to reveal rare items such as chests.

Another interesting mob is glow squid, which was announced for Minecraft in September 2020. What many players do not know is that this mob was inspired by its Minecraft Earth counterpart. Glow squids were added to MC Earth in February 2020.

Glow squids can be easily found underwater, and as the name suggests, are glowing versions of the squid. These mobs can be killed, upon which the players get glowing ink sacs, which can be used to make glowing picture frames and signboards.

Unfortunately, Mojang Studios has shut down all the spin-offs, including MC Dungeons and MC Legends. Perhaps the developers can take inspiration from the other mobs in these spin-offs and add it to the main game. There are some great mobs in MC Dungeons and MC Legends. The latest update has finally added the bundles to the game, and fans are waiting for more updates to drop.
