Mojang recently released a new Minecraft snapshot and beta preview version for both Java and Bedrock Editions. In these new versions, the developers showcased several new features they have in store for the game's upcoming drop, the first of 2025. As of now, there is no official confirmation as to when these features will officially arrive in the game.
An argument can be made that these new features, most of which are quality-of-life changes, can drastically improve Minecraft's overall look and feel.

How Minecraft's upcoming game drop will bring positive changes to the Overworld
Ambient change to all Overworld biomes with falling leaves
When players roam around forests and other biomes that have trees, the regions can feel a bit dull and static since there are no moving parts apart from the mobs. Though this can change if users try out different shaders that offer grass and tree leaf movement, vanilla versions look static and boring.
This will now change with Minecraft's upcoming drop, in which Mojang will add falling leaves as a feature. They previously tried this feature with biomes like Cherry Grove and Pale Garden to ensure it does not cause any major issues. In the latest snapshot (25w02a) and beta preview (1.21.60.25) versions, they added the feature to every single tree that generates in the Overworld.
Small and cute leaves falling slowly from each tree will make forests feel much more alive than before.
Leaf litter and wildflowers will become unique decorative items for builds
Another unique feature Mojang added was leaf litter and wildflower half blocks. While leaf litter will appear on the ground in various biomes like forests, dark forests, and wooded badlands, wildflowers will be generated only in birch forests. These two half blocks can be picked up by breaking them with a hand and can be placed on a block in four stages.
Both of these naturally generating half blocks will make the Overworld biomes look much fuller. This can also be seen as Mojang's vision to add different seasons, like Autumn and Spring, to the game.
Furthermore, they can become brand-new decorative blocks that players place around their base to further add beauty to their creations.
Two cute pig variants
One of the earliest mobs in Minecraft is the pig. Their appearance hasn't changed much in the 15 years since they were added. Nevertheless, Mojang has now decided to introduce additional pig varieties according to the Overworld's spawning locations.
Two new warm and cold pig varieties have been added to the beta and snapshot versions of Minecraft. The mob will be orange in color and texture if it spawns in biomes such as Savanna, Savanna Plateau, Windswept Savanna, Jungle, Sparse Jungle, Bamboo Jungle, Eroded Badlands, Wooded Badlands, or Badlands.
Pigs that spawn in biomes such as Old Growth Pine Taiga, Old Growth Spruce Taiga, Taiga, Snowy Taiga, Windswept Hills, Windswept Gravelly Hills, or Windswept Forest will have a pastel yellow color and texture to them.
