Minecraft is about to receive the new The Garden Awakens drop. This small update from Mojang will feature the new Creaking mob, the Pale Garden biome, and lots of new blocks and items. The developers have been working on these features for several months, and are now finally ready to officially release it in their 15-year-old sandbox survival game.
However, an argument can be made that even though Minecraft's The Garden Awakens drop offers several new features, it lacks any useful resources that players can actually use, apart from building and customizing their look. The update mostly only offers players building blocks, decorative blocks, and one armor customization option.

Minecraft's The Garden Awakens drop only offers building blocks as a useful resource
Building blocks and armor customization are the only two useful features
Creaking is a new mob that will be added to Minecraft with The Garden Awakens drop. This wood-like creature cannot be killed by direct melee or ranged attacks, as its heart is outside its body as a block. When the creature is hit, its heart block secretes a new material called Resin that can be collected as clumps from Pale Oak trees.
However, these clumps have only two uses — crafting building blocks and making an armor trim dye. Resin clumps can be smelted into Resin bricks, which can then be crafted into Resin brick blocks. Resin bricks can also be used to impart an orange color to every armor trim design.
As explained, the Creaking mob and the Creaking heart block only give out resources that can then be used to craft building blocks or for armor customization.
Pale Garden has loads of new blocks of offer as well. The biome generates new Pale Oak trees that have yet another new wood block set. In recent years, Mojang has added several new wood sets to Minecraft, such as Bamboo and Cherry.
Pale Moss and Pale Hanging Vines are also building blocks that can be used in structures.
Even the Eyeblossom flowers generated in the new biome are only useful as decoration. This is because bees can get poisoned by them while pollinating, and it can only be used to create a Suspicious Stew that gives a blindness effect to players.
Mojang could have added new utility items and tools
Of course, it is worth mentioning that all these building blocks are a great addition to the game. Many players who are builders at heart would rejoice when the update drops. However, Mojang could have added resources and features that players could use for/on themselves directly.
For example, the Resin could have been made to be used to brew potions or create traps (due to its adhesive nature). Eyeblossoms could have been used to create blindness potions that could be thrown towards hostile mobs.
Similar to these ideas, several other features could have been added to the update to make it more useful for all kinds of players, rather than builders only. However, it is understandable that Mojang may not have been able to cram more features into it since it is a drop and not a major update.
In conclusion, Minecraft's The Garden Awakens drop feels too much of a building-oriented update for Minecraft.
