Creaking's hunting mechanics and method to defeat
The Creaking is a special hostile mob that appears in the Pale Garden biome at night. They are in an unaltered state when players are far off, and will only activate when players are within a 12-block radius.
If the wood-like creature spawns and detects a player, it will start hunting them as long as the player is not looking at it. To further elaborate, the mob will only approach and assault a player if it is not visible on their screen. Even though the mob only does half a heart's worth of damage, things can get quite tricky if players are unable to defeat it, leading other regular hostile mobs to attack.
Hence, players could try increasing their FOV to better tackle the Creaking and always keep it visible on the screen.
Another fascinating strength that the Creaking possesses is its immunity against any direct ranged or melee attacks. No matter how much players hurt it directly, the mob will not take any damage. This is because its heart is outside its body, hidden in one of the pale oak trees.
To eliminate the new mob, players must find the Creaking heart block and destroy it. As soon as the block gets destroyed, the mob will immediately disintegrate.
Creaking indirectly secretes resin from its heart block
The Pale Garden biome introduces a new material known as resin which is directly connected to Creaking.
Creaking's heart block will release resin droplets onto the nearby pale oak logs when players strike the wood-like creature. The amount of resin increases with the number of hits.
These resin clumps on pale oak logs can be mined and gathered. They can then be smelted into resin bricks and used to craft building blocks.
