Minecraft has hundreds of different blocks, each with its unique properties. You can use them to create almost anything you want in the game. The redstone block can even help you build complicated machines, such as computers, that may be crucial for many structures.

However, this article takes a look at explosive blocks, which are equally as important in the process of building and mining in Mojang's popular sandbox title.

Explosive blocks in Minecraft are unique in that they explode when interacted with. This makes them useful for clearing large areas, especially during mining. While some blocks are designed to explode at any time, others can be made to do so under certain conditions.

The most well-known explosive block in the game is TNT. You can activate it using a switch, lever, or flint and steel. However, it cannot explode underwater unless you create special mechanisms to enable it.

Another way to use TNT is by placing it on a minecart and triggering it with an activator rail. Recent updates have made it possible to launch TNT-loaded minecarts over long distances by increasing the vehicle's speed, effectively turning it into a makeshift cannon.

Beds can also explode in Mojang's sandbox title. They are harmless in the Overworld but will explode if placed in the Nether or the End dimension and interacted with, potentially causing significant damage.

Apart from beds, End Crystals will also detonate when hit, while Respawn Anchors will explode when powered by glowstone in the Overworld and the End dimension.

Fireworks are another explosive block in the game. They shoot into the air before exploding. You can even use rockets with a crossbow for precise aiming.

While the creeper is a mob, it is notorious for its surprise explosions when you're not looking. These explosions can kill unarmored players and destroy certain blocks. Its explosion power is amplified when it is struck by lightning.

With the upcoming Minecraft 1.22 update, Mojang Studios might introduce new explosive items. It would be beneficial to have a time-setting mechanic for such blocks so players can ensure that explosions occur at predetermined times.
