Trial chambers are inarguably the biggest feature of Minecraft 1.21 Tricky Trials update. Large and imposing, these copper and tuff structures are the largest found in the overworld's underground. They are also the best and most challenging combat experience available, built from the ground up to stand out from the rest of the game's structures — all for several reasons.

Everything players need to know about just how unique the upcoming trial chambers are can be found detailed below.

The unique features of Minecraft's trial chambers

1) The only place to find some items

The loot found within trial chambers includes a plethora of items available nowhere else in the entire game. For example, both of the crafting ingredients for the new Minecraft mace weapon, breeze rods and heavy cores, are found by looting trial chambers.

Trial chambers also have a ton of new aesthetic items. There are two new banner patterns: the flow and guster patterns. There are three new pottery sherds: scrape, guster, and flow sherds. Finally, there are two new Minecraft armor smithing templates found in trial chambers. The first of these is the bolt trim pattern, and the second is the flow trim pattern.

Ominous vaults can also give enchanted books for all three of the new mace weapon enchantments. This is the only way to get the wind burst enchantment, as it cannot be obtained via normal enchanting. There are also three new music discs available exclusively within trial chambers: Creator, Creator (Music Box), and Precipice.

2) Mobs

The most obvious mob that makes trial chambers unique is the Minecraft breeze. These air elementals can only appear from the trial spawners found within trial chambers. These mobs attack players with wind charges, dealing little damage but sending them flying around chaotically.

However, trial chambers are also unique in the type of creatures found within them. Many of the deadliest hostile Minecraft mobs can be found here in large numbers as trial-spawner mobs. This includes cave spiders, husks, strays, bogged, baby zombies, and regular skeletons. Any one of these could be annoying to deal with in groups, but all of them at once can be lethal, even to prepared players.

3) Vaults

Trial chambers have also introduced a totally new style of structure loot in the form of vaults. Vaults cannot be opened like normal chests. They instead need to be unlocked with trial keys dropped by defeating the hostile mobs spawned by trial spawners.

Vaults are so unique when compared to other loot containers due to the fact that they can be looted by any number of players. This has finally introduced personalized loot to the vanilla game, making Minecraft trial chambers amazing multiplayer features as well as combat experiences.

4) Ominous Events

Trial chambers are also entirely unique for structures due to ominous events. These are an optional way to take on trial chambers, which makes them harder. Trial spawners will spawn equipped mobs more often and will drop ominous keys. These are needed to open ominous vaults, which have much better loot than regular vaults, such as heavy cores.

None of Minecraft's many other structures have anything like this. Trial chambers having a secondary way, totally optional, to engage with, which is hopefully a glimpse into how Mojang will continue to develop features.

5) Copper and Tuff blocks

On a more literal and superficial level, trial chambers are also unique in that the blocks used to construct them appear nowhere else in the game naturally. This makes them the only natural source of copper bulbs, grates, and blocks, as well as the only place to find Minecraft's new tuff blocks.

The previously mentioned copper bulbs are the most interesting and unique of these new natural blocks. They are an industrial-looking light that would fit in with any of Minecraft's best steampunk builds, yet they don't require any redstone power to stay on. Instead, different oxidation levels produce different levels of light.
