Unlike traditional NPC mods, Minepal utilizes ChatGPT to create responses in real time rather than choosing from a preexisting dataset. This essentially adds to the immersiveness of the gameplay and makes it feel like you have a real player with you in the game.

Minepal offers support for 55 languages and works on Windows, Mac, and Linux-based systems. As of now, this free add-on supports up to Minecraft 1.20.4. Apart from interacting and replying to your questions, it also supports voice chat, interacting with you just like a normal player would.

How to install the Minecraft Minepal mod

You do not need popular mod loaders like Fabric or Forge to install the Minecraft Minepal mod. You could just use the standalone Minepal application, which has ports for different platforms, such as Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Here's how you can install the Minecraft Minepal mod:

1. Download the Minepal application from the official website.
2. Run the installer and wait for it to load.
3. Enter your Minecraft username.
4. Enter the host. For LAN servers, use localhost. For multiplayer servers, enter the server's IP address or domain name. For the port section, it is recommended to use the Minecraft default 25565.
5. Next, select your Minecraft Java version. Make sure the versions match otherwise the NPC will not be added to your gameplay.
6. Additionally, you can turn on whisper mode to privately converse with the bot. This is useful in multiplayer servers if you wish to keep your conversations private.
7. You will next find Ethan as the default bot. Click on the checkbox to select it. Additionally, you can create your own bot with its own name and personality if you wish for a more personalized experience.
8. Next, choose the desired language for voice chat.

Once done, open up your instance of Minecraft and load a new world. Once done, head to settings and start a LAN world. Keep note of the port number.

Now, head back to the Minepal application and enter the corresponding number. Once done, select the Start Bot button to add the NPC to your Minecraft world.
