The Ender Dragon drops the most amount of XP in Minecraft, up to 12,000 points upon its first death, and 500 in subsequent deaths. This is around 12 times more XP than what any other activity or mob kill offers.

When players travel to the End realm for the first time, they come face-to-face with the final boss — the Ender Dragon. To defeat the beast, players need to destroy the end crystals at the top of the obsidian towers and then start attacking the dragon itself. After it is killed for the first time, it will drop 12,000 XP points and allow players to jump into an End portal in the middle of the main island to complete the game.
After its first defeat, the Ender Dragon can be summoned again by placing end crystals on the bedrock fountain in the main End island. Any Ender Dragon that spawns after the original one will only drop 500 XP points upon death.
