Minecraft PE Lite was the first and only demo version of the current Minecraft: Pocket Edition. It was a slightly altered version of Pocket Edition Alpha 0.2.1 and was officially released on Google Play on August 15, 2011. It was later also released for iOS.

This demo/lite version of Minecraft Pocket Edition was active for three years before it was discontinued in 2014. Soon after, as of iOS 11, it was incompatible with all Apple devices.

Since Minecraft PE Lite was essentially a demo of the official title, it was restricted but had enough features for players to experience the gameplay and mechanics of Minecraft. Worlds could not be saved here, and every time the game was restarted, it was a fresh playthrough. Additionally, seeds could not be used in this version.

PE Lite offered two game modes — creative and survival. Players had access to a large repository of items and blocks but they could only select 28 out of the 49 items in the inventory at a time. Additionally, mobs were limited to just pigs, sheep, and zombies.

As for tools, players had access to the pickaxe, shovel, and shears, which they could use on the only wood available — oak. Additional blocks such as bricks, sand, dirt, glass, wool, and bricks were also available for use. During nighttime, they could use torches as well.

Although it was supposed to be a demo edition, PE Lite offered players a host of randomized worlds, as well as an array of blocks and resources to play with. It even supported multiplayer, but it was limited to LAN mode.

No, PE Lite is not available anymore in the Google Play or Apple App Store. iOS versions of the title became obsolete over a decade ago, while Android versions could still run on devices containing the old game files.

The only exceptions to this are Google Play users who had downloaded the app before its removal from the store. They can still redownload the game and play it on supported devices. Meanwhile, others will get a standard "Requested URL not available." error message.
