What is the Minecraft Realms 403 error?

It seems that Minecraft has found itself in hot waters yet again. Just a few days ago, there was a big debacle regarding the Realms server with almost every Bedrock Realms user unable to access their world as the servers were down. This lasted for almost seven days before getting resolved. A few days later, a new Realms issue started to surface and it seems that this time, even the Java Edition is not safe from server errors.

The Minecraft Realms 403 error appears to be another server error that is stopping it from connecting with user devices. This could be due to an internal server error, a server outage, or some glitch. The good thing is that it is most certainly from Mojang Studios’ side and not from your side. So even if your connection is perfectly fine, you will not be able to connect to the servers.

Minecraft Realms is a subscription-based service that gives players access to Mojang Studios’ (Microsoft’s) servers to host their game world and play it with others. While there are many benefits to using Realms, it seems that players are not getting what they are paying for.

Do note that a seven-day-long outage happened just the previous month and Mojang Studios had to compensate players to make up for the loss. Since this is a monthly paid service, losing seven days of access is quite a lot. And now, we are facing yet another Realms issue.

Possible fixes for this issue are quite limited as this is a 403 error. Usually, a 403 error code refers to a forbidden request. This means that your computer or device is connecting with the server, and for some reason, the server is refusing to accept the request. Only the folks at Mojang Studios can figure out why the server is behaving this way and whether it is a localized issue or a global one.

Looking at Downdetector, it seems that the issue has already started getting resolved so this is likely a problem that can be fixed easily. It should be noted that many of the error messages also include “Azure” which refers to Microsoft’s servers. If you are facing this issue, you can try logging out and logging back into your Minecraft account and trying again. If this doesn't solve the problem, then you can wait a few hours and check it again.
