Where are the traps in Minecraft trial chambers?

The trial chambers added in Minecraft 1.21, also known as Tricky Trials, have quickly become the deadliest structures in the entire game. This is largely due to the different mobs found within them, almost all of which can be deadly in the right circumstances. However, there's another equally dangerous aspect of trial chambers to take into account: the traps.

There are three different kinds of potential traps found within trial chambers, all of which can be quite dangerous to players who aren't expecting them. Information about each one can be found below, including where to find them and what the trap entails, which should help ensure the safe exploration of these dangerous places.

The traps found within Minecraft trial chambers

Tripwire traps

Tripwire traps in trial chambers are tripwires attached to dispensers set to activate and deal damage to unsuspecting passing players. These are nothing new for dangerous structures, as they also appear in the jungle temples found in Minecraft's best jungle seeds.

These tripwire traps are found within the corridors connecting the larger rooms of trial chambers. The dispensers these tripwires are attached to are filled with regular arrows capable of dealing decent damage to exploring or panicking players alike.

Chamber dispensers

The dispensers found within the chambers of the trial chamber can also be quite deadly. These are the main rooms of the Minecraft structure, with eight different variations in the game. Each contains multiple trial spawners, vaults, an ominous vault, and dispensers, making them the best areas for players to loot.

These blocks contain fire charges, arrows, and lingering Minecraft potions of slowness and weakness, alongside splash potions of poison, slowness, and weakness. This means that they can unexpectedly turn the tide of battle, especially against unprepared players, by reducing their health, speed, and damage.

However, not all the items found within these dispensers are bad as they can also spit out lingering potions of healing. Now this is a double-edged sword since it can also heal hostile mobs, but the extra health might make the difference between survival and death in particularly bad situations.

TNT traps

Among the eight different Minecraft trial chamber chambers, the assembly chamber is worth taking a closer look at when it comes to traps. These are large, square rooms filled with copper-grate obstacles and gaps in the floor. There is a chance for a sealed melee trap to be generated that will set off a TNT trap after detecting a player.

Stay vigilant when exploring, and make sure to identify any large rooms before entering them. This should keep players from getting caught off guard and activating the traps by accident.
