Which mobs are afraid of Creaking in Minecraft?

The Creaking was announced as a new mob by Mojang in the 2024 Minecraft Live event. In this show, the studio introduced the new hostile creature and talked about its major features, including how it can attack players and how players can kill it. The mob will spawn in the new Pale Garden biome where it will have its heart block that will make it invincible against any attack.

While players will be scared of it and try to kill it, they are not the only beings that the Creaking will scare. Some existing mobs will also be afraid when it approaches.

Many mobs in Minecraft will either not interact with one another, or they will in unique ways. When it comes to the new Creaking mob, a lot must be discovered, including which mobs interact with the creature. It was recently discovered that these mobs scare off one of the strongest groups of hostile mobs: Illagers.

These include Pillagers, Vindicators, Evokers, and Illusioners (Java Edition only). Apart from them, Ravagers, which are related to Illagers, are also scared of the new mob.

Illagers are villainous variants of villagers that live in Pillager Outposts and Woodland Mansions. These can also spawn near villages during a raid and kill villagers. Exploring Woodland Mansion is considered one of the toughest tasks since Illagers, like Evokers and Vindicators, can deal deadly attacks toward players.

When it comes to Creaking, however, these strong Illagers are quite scared of it. it was tested that as soon as a Creaking is spawned near one of any Illager mob, they will lose their minds and run away from the new wood-like creature. Even the biggest and strongest Illager, the Ravager, flee from the Creaking.

Illagers will run away from the Creaking till they do not detect the scary creature in a eight-block radius.

Reason behind Illager being scared of Creaking remains unknown

Though it is quite fun to watch some of the strongest hostile mobs being scared of the new Creaking mob, the reason behind them being scared is unknown. Mojang has not yet revealed everything about the mob and might never explain why the Illagers are the only mobs that are scared of Creaking.

Even the villagers, which are more passive and scared of the Illagers, have no issue standing beside Creaking and not even flinching.

There are chances that Mojang could have intentionally kept this feature for players to speculate and weave a story around it.
