Mace was added to the game with Minecraft 1.21 Tricky Trials update. This is a brand-new, hammer-like weapon that has a special damage mechanic. When a player falls from a height and manages to attack an entity with a mace, they will perform a smash attack that will multiply the amount of its damage based on the number of blocks the player character has fallen.

Naturally, the greater the fall, the more powerful the attack.

On the other hand, elytra is an endgame gear that allows players to glide (or fly with firework rockets) in Minecraft. With this gear, traveling in the game's vast world becomes extremely easy.

Since elytra can allow players to soar high in the sky, and mace allows them to perform a smash attack by falling off high places, they can be a deadly combination.

With the flying gear, players can fly around, out of reach of any enemy, and with a mace they can smash them whenever they swoop down on the ground.

To craft a mace, players need a breeze rod and a heavy core. Breeze rods can be obtained by killing the new breeze mob in trial chambers released in the 1.21 update. Only one of these rods is required to create a mace.

Heavy core is among the rarest and most difficult items to get. Players will first need to obtain an ominous bottle from a pillager raid captain, enter a trial chamber, and drink the contents of the bottle. This will start the ominous trial in the new structure. The hostile mobs spawning from ominous trial spawners will be much harder to beat.

Once this is complete, players will receive an ominous trial key that can unlock the ominous trial vault. This special vault has a 7.5% chance of offering a heavy core.

How to get an elytra?

Elytra is an old and popular gear in Minecraft. It cannot be crafted by players in survival mode and needs to be obtained from an end city with a floating ship attached to it.

An end city can only be accessed after defeating the ender dragon and completing the game's underlying story.

Once in the end city, explorers need to fight off shulkers to get to the floating ship, where the elytra will be located on an item frame.
