Minecraft has captured the imagination of millions of players. The experience of creating a new world, surviving, collecting resources, and eventually making a base, adds to the excitement. While all this has made the blocky game iconic, there’s something else that works behind the scenes to make Minecraft so special; the music. The game’s music has always been stellar and adds to the ambiance.

But here’s the interesting thing; most players do not know much about the people who created Minecraft music. In this article, we reveal the artist behind the game’s soundtrack. We also list both old music tracks and new ones.

Several albums were composed specifically for the game. However, the OG music album with iconic soundtracks, such as Haggstrom, Key, Subwoofer Lullaby, and Living Mice are all composed by Daniel Rosenfeld, also known as C418. Rosenfeld is a German music composer who rose to fame after making music for Minecraft, which has been appreciated by players and critics alike.

But that’s not all the music in the game. With the release of the Nether update in 2020, Mojang Studios got another music composer on board. Lena Raine composed the somber and iconic music for the Nether dimension. There were five tracks for the update, including Chrysopoeia, Rubedo, and So Below.

Her music album was not independently produced and was owned by Microsoft's music label.

With the release of the Caves and Cliffs update in 2021, Mojang Studios roped in Japanese music composer Kumi Tanioka, who has garnered fame and recognition for composing some memorable soundtracks in the Final Fantasy series.

She composed three out of the 10 tracks for Minecraft and a music disc named “Otherside” found in the game. The other tracks were composed by Lena Raine. For The Wild Update, one of the four new tracks named “Five” was composed by Samuel Åberg, Mojang Studios’ audio director.

Finally, for the Trials and Tales and the Tricky Trials update, Mojang Studios brought Aaron Cherof along with Lena Raine and Kumi Tanioka to compose the music for the newly added structures in the game. The two updates added a combined total of 17 new music tracks.
