Minecraft is finally receiving the long-awaited bundles that were initially slated for the Caves & Cliffs update, and players are breathing a sigh of relief knowing that these new means of inventory management are finally at hand. After languishing as an Experimental Feature for years, bundles may prove to be one of the most impactful additions to the game in recent memory.

But why would something as simple as bundles be so game-changing for Minecraft? Put plainly, the Minecraft community long asked Mojang for more inventory space and different ways to store items and manage them. Bundles achieve these goals quite easily and aren't difficult to craft.

Easily craftable with cheap resources including rabbit hides and string, Minecraft's bundles are a means of getting a little extra storage in a portable fashion. Bundles can carry up to 64 individual items in a single inventory slot, even if they're of different types. For example, players could store a full 64-item stack of sticks in their bundle or 16 sticks and 58 other individual items of different varieties.

Each bundle possesses six slots that can fit up to 64 items distributed however players wish, which is part of the reason they can be so game-changing in Minecraft. Bundles are an excellent way to bring together several loose stacks of items into a single inventory slot so players have more room to collect items and blocks as they see fit, which is a huge win for inventory management.

Before bundles, fans usually had to resort to mods or add-ons to expand their personal inventory, but bundles provide inventory expansion by allowing multiple items to be sorted into a single inventory slot. Even better, players can create "nests" by placing bundles within bundles, allowing for even more items to be condensed into a lone inventory slot and free up space elsewhere.

It's no secret that Minecraft is a game filled to the brim with different blocks and items, and players need all the storage they can get to contain them. Not just via blocks like chests or shulker boxes, but through easily craftable and portable containers that can be accessed early on in the game (compared to requiring access to the End with regards to shulker boxes).

Overall, bundles are easy to craft, easy to use, and can improve a player's inventory management across the board. While some players might prefer that bundles had more space in them, they're quite balanced for a relatively early-game item that has as much utility as they do. Even if every player doesn't use them, bundles should prove to be a huge positive for Mojang's beloved sandbox game.
