Why it is high time for Mojang to add furniture blocks to Minecraft

With the upcoming Winter drop, Minecraft will be receiving yet another new wood type that will come from the new Pale Garden biome. These wood blocks will be completely white in color, giving players a new building block to create structures. Along with that, new resin brick blocks will also be introduced as bright orange building blocks.

Since Mojang has been adding lots of building and decorative blocks to the game, an argument can be made that they should also add new furniture blocks that can be crafted with them.

Minecraft should receive new furniture blocks with building block variants

Lots of wood types but no new set of furniture blocks

In the past few updates, Mojang has added lots of new wood types. The new wood types are mangrove, bamboo and cherry. However, all the new types added the same set of wood blocks that players can craft on a crafting table. Mojang did not add any unique furniture blocks players can use to further add details to their structures.

Since there are loads of new wood types in both Overworld and Nether, Mojang could start adding new wooden furniture like cabinets, couches, chairs, tables and more.

As of now, players try to mimic couches, chairs and tables with the help of stairs, fences and pressure plates, respectively. In reality, they cannot sit or place anything on the chairs and tables they try to create.

Inability to add details to a structure's interior design

One of Minecraft's core mechanics is building various kinds of structures and adding details to them. When players create their base, it essentially becomes their home in a virtual world and they form a special connection to the place. However, since the very beginning of the game, they have been unable to work on detailed interior designs that could include furniture.

Though Minecraft has lots of new and advanced features to win in 2024, players who are specifically builders would still feel the lack of detailed furniture in the vanilla game.

How to unofficially get furniture in Minecraft?

Though Mojang has not yet added detailed furniture blocks to Minecraft, the sandbox game supports all kinds of mods the community makes. Over the years, the player base has made multiple mods that add new furniture blocks, some of which players can interact with as well.

Users can simply head to the CurseForge website and search for furniture mods in order to get them in their game.
