Minecraft OneBlock is a popular custom game mode that was created by the modding community with a unique game mechanic in mind. As the name suggests, this custom game world spawns players on a single block. Once spawned, players are required to break that same block to generate more blocks and progress forward in Minecraft.
An argument can be made that despite having such a unique gameplay mechanic, Minecraft OneBlock can feel quite mundane. This article will further explore such a claim.

Reasons why Minecraft OneBlock might feel dull and repetitive
Players are required to mine the same block for hours to get useful resources
As mentioned above, players are required to mine the single block on which they spawn to gradually progress through the game. After mining each block, it will change into something new. You have to sit through several stages to change the block from wood to stone to iron ores, to coal ores, and more.
This is a unique way to play the game since the blocks are completely random but still adhere to a general progression curve. However, the main issue is that players are stuck with a single block and might have to mine for minutes or even hours to get to the next phase.
Hence, breaking lots of blocks while simply standing in one spot can get quite boring after a while, especially during the early stages of the game mode.
Exploration is non-existent OneBlock
It is safe to say that one of Minecraft's core gameplay features is exploration. The game puts players in a nearly endless world with loads of biomes, mobs, and structures to explore. They are given the freedom to do anything they want and in no particular order.
However, exploration is almost non-existent in the Minecraft OneBlock game mode. Though players can head to other dimensions, they will find a similar experience as the Overworld, where only a single block is present.
They will then be forced to mine that single block to progress further. Hence, the custom game mode might not be everyone's cup of tea.
