Being one of the most popular games, Minecraft has been played for more than 15 years. However, despite constant updates over the years, some elements of the game still needed fixing. For example, the minecart is one the most iconic items in the game, yet it is rarely used. The vehicle is heavily flawed - it is very slow and requires a lot of effort to build the entire infrastructure. Many even prefer to walk and run than use the minecarts.
But things might change very soon. With the recently released Snapshot 23w33a, Mojang Studios has completely revamped the minecart and added almost everything players had been asking for. So in this article, we will mention all the things that make the new minecart changes a big deal. Let’s get started.
Note: Some aspects of this article are subjective. The alterations mentioned in the article are experimental and subject to change.

Changed minecart in Minecraft is a big deal
Right off the bat, minecarts are now much faster, and by faster we mean the fastest thing in the game. While the default speed is set at eight blocks per second, this can be cranked all the way up to 1,000 blocks per second. This makes it blisteringly fast, to the extent that it is even hard to see anything in the game.
Of course, this does not mean that players will crank the speed to 1,000 blocks per second, but the option to set the speed however they want is wonderful. This will allow players to build unique railway networks, transport structures, rollercoasters, and even cannons.
Speaking of cannons, there has been another change with the minecart which now allows players to shoot the cart into the air by launching it on an inclining slope. Given the minecart's extreme speed, players are both amazed and shocked to see how far they can launch it. Moreover, the minecart can also be loaded with different items such as TNT or even mobs. This was recently showcased by a player who used this experimental feature to make a TNT cannon and launch the TNT-loaded minecart into the far-off distance.
Apart from these new features, the developers have improved how the minecart moves and turns, and increased its stability on tracks. In other words, this snapshot has revived minecarts and given it some purpose in the game.
It must be noted that these changes are experimental and not final. Mojang Studios will tweak the final version when it releases or even ditch the entire thing. Hopefully, they don’t do the latter, for the sake of the improved minecart's potential to enhance the Minecraft experience.
