"Wtf Hytale is just Minecraft 2": Old Hytale gameplay footage sparks sudden backlash on X for resembling Minecraft too closely

Minecraft is a game that has surpassed the ideas associated with a game. It has become a household name with multiple other franchises spanning movies, toys, and fashion spawning from it. It is normal for other games to be inspired by this blocky game. While there are many knock-offs, there are some games that are aiming to bring something new to the table. Hytale is one such title.

An X user by the name of HytaleNewsYT posted a small video clip on the social media platform showing what was supposed to be the gameplay for Hytale scheduled to be out for the public in the near future. However, looking at the way everything looks in the video, X users voiced their opinions and most of them were negative.

A user named thejorgg commented saying:

"Wtf Hytale is just Minecraft 2"

This comment referred to the Hytale gameplay footage which looks identical to Minecraft gameplay with some texture packs activated. Note that Hytale was supposed to be merely inspired by the game, not a clone.

A user named Joellen65368626 commented asking whether they are still working on that game. The user gave a lot of emphasis on the word ‘still’ showing how long it has been since Hytale has been in development. The original poster commented that they are indeed still working on it.

Another user named Deiroz936 asked why they should play Hytale and not Minecraft, highlighting that Hytale has nothing special to offer to them. User neochampy commented saying people could add some mods in Minecraft and make Hytale in a modpack.

Another user named James_ENTMT _ said they keep forgetting that this game existed and stated that the hype for this game had already died long ago. User Not0men asked sarcastically how long they had been working on it, while user EyuphanMand commented that Hytale is not real, but just a dream.

A spiritual successor of Minecraft?

It is surprising to realize that the production of Hytale started almost a decade ago and we still do not have any idea about when the final game will be publicly available. It is not like the developers are running out of money as the project has been funded by Riot Games, a really big name in the gaming industry.

Perhaps the game will not be out for another couple of years. But all we can hope is that the developers are taking their time to bring out a polished, amazing game, something that can suprass Minecraft after its latest Tricky Trials update.
