3 fights we want to see at ONE Championship’s U.S. event in Colorado

Combat sports fans were elated with the news that ONE Championship will soon be hosting its debut event in the USA; ONE on Prime Video 10. It was recently made official that ONE Championship's first US event will be hosted in Colorado on May 5.

The fight card thus far has one confirmed fight which is a trilogy bout between all-time MMA great 'Mighty Mouse' Demetrious Johnson against his long-time rival 'Mikinho' Adriano Moraes. These two incredibly talented fighters will go to war with the ONE flyweight world championship on the line.

Both Johnson and Moraes have won one fight in their series against each other by way of knockout using a knee strike. On May 5, at ONE on Prime Video 10, the two combatants will look to break the tie in their series.

But combat sports fans expect the very best from ONE Championship and have lofty expectations when it comes to the premiere martial arts organization. Especially knowing that this fight card will be ONE's debut in the USA, viewers have some dream fights they would like to have at this event.

#3. Allycia Hellen Rodrigues vs Janet Todd ONE atomweight Muay Thai world championship unification

Brazil's Allycia Hellen Rodrigues captured the ONE atomweight Muay Thai world championship when she defeated Stamp Fairtex in 2020. Since then, she has not defended her throne due to spending time with her newborn child.

Since the atomweight Muay Thai queen was away, an interim world champion was crowned. USA's 'JT' Janet Todd earned the ONE interim atomweight world Muay Thai world championship in that time. This is the second world title The US-born Todd has earned as she is the current reigning ONE atomweight kickboxing world champion as well.

The fight nearly happened in December 2022 but unfortunately, Todd was forced to pull out of the fight due to COVID. However, fans are still clamoring for a battle between the two atomweight Muay Thai queens.

Janet Todd spoke in an interview with ONE Championship about the Muay Thai queen Allycia Hellen Rodrigues, 'JT' said:

"I’m sure with the baby, it’s giving [her] other inspirations to be better. So, I’m expecting the best version of her.”

#2. Tang Kai vs Thanh Le rematch for the ONE featherweight world title

Earlier this year, Thanh Le was building an impressive legacy. With a 12-fight knockout win streak, he had won and defended the ONE featherweight world title. The heavy-handed striker was looking unstoppable until he met China's Tang Kai.

The 26-year-old Tang Kai defeated the powerful Thanh Le over five full championship rounds to capture the featherweight crown. The Chinese-born athlete was faster plus landed more kicks and punches against his Vietnamese-American opponent.

US-born Thanh Le has already defeated much of the featherweight division and is looking to recapture his lost crown. Tang Kai will be looking to prove his worth as a world champion by defeating Le in a second match.

#1. Arjan Bhullar vs Anatoly Malykhin ONE Championship heavyweight world title unification bout

After months of trash talk, the heavyweight kings 'Singh' Arjan Bhullar and 'Sladkiy' Anatoly Malykhin are on a collision course. The Canadian-Indian Bhullar won the ONE heavyweight world title in 2021 with a TKO stoppage over Brandon Vera.

Due to contract negotiations and injuries, Bhullar has not returned to the ONE Championship circle to defend his throne. Since that time, the heavyweight division crowned an interim world champion. Russia's Anatoly Malykhin is a destructive and dangerous fighter. Nearly all of his matches have been won by way of knockout.

The Russian athlete Malykhin has captured both the ONE light heavyweight world championship and the ONE interim heavyweight world title both by way of knockout in 2022.

The unbeaten 'Sladkiy,' along with many combat sports fans, are demanding a showdown against the heavyweight world champion Arjan Bhullar. The battle of the two heavyweight kings might be 2023's most anticipated fight.

In an interview with ONE Championship, Malykhin shared his thoughts on Bhullar. He said:

“[Bhullar] is my little baby chicken who is clinging on to the belt that should be mine. He’s not a real champion."
