It was one of the best moments in the UFC, not only because of the way in which Namanujas overcame adversity and accusations of xenophobia, but also because of her octagon interview with Joe Rogan. Speaking on his JRE podcast, Joe Rogan later admitted it was the first time he cried during an interview.
Approaching a crying Rose Namanujas at UFC 261 seconds after she won the UFC title, Joe Rogan couldn't control his emotions either. Teary-eyed and with a breaking voice, he congratulated the 115-pounder, and emphatically displayed a softer side of the MMA community.
#1 Joe Rogan interviewed a furious Conor McGregor after his freak injury at UFC 264
While interviewing fighters after their bouts inside the octagon is a norm in the UFC, it has never been done with an athlete as seriously injured as Conor McGregor was at UFC 264. After suffering a freak injury and his second straight loss against Dustin Poirier, the 'Notorious' seemed the angriest he has ever been.
Joe Rogan is excellent at getting things out of fighters with his extremely intelligent questions. Against an infuriated and downed McGregor, that worked even better. The Irishman made headlines after threatening Poirier and even saying distasteful things against his wife.
However, it was Joe Rogan who also received a lot of flak for interviewing McGregor when he was seemingly out of his elements. One of the major points of debate after the fight was Joe Rogan's decision to interview McGregor. Among those who criticized the UFC color-commentator were McGregor's coach John Kavanagh and teammate Artem Lobov.
Rogan later explained that it was McGregor himself who wanted to express his views on the mic. However, he managed to steal the show by going ahead with the controversial octagon interview.
