Amir ‘The Prince’ Albazi was born in Baghdad, Iraq on October 27, 1993. He relocated to Sweden as a refugee when he was young and took up martial arts as he was inspired by watching a UFC fight that was aired on TV. With time, Albazi's dedication took him to professional MMA, making his debut in 2009. Albazi has a well-versed skill set, boasting a high level of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He can also finish several fights via submission.

Albazi boasts a phenomenal professional record of 17 wins and one loss (17-1-0) as of October 30, 2024. Making his UFC debut in 2020, he had a great start in the promotion, winning via triangle choke submission against Malcolm Gordon. Albazi has notable wins over formidable contenders like Francisco Figueiredo and Kai Kara-France. His family moved first to Syria, where he was reunited with his father and stayed for around 18 months before moving into the immigrant-heavy district of Bredang in Stockholm, Sweden.

As a teenager, Albazi got into a lot of fights at school, which eventually led him to join a street gang. His interest in MMA began unexpectedly after watching a UFC fight on TV, which inspired him to join a local MMA gym. He moved to London in 2013 and earned a degree in sports science from the University of Roehampton.

Albazi currently trains out of Xtreme Couture in Las Vegas, Nevada, a legendary gym that also serves as training grounds for former UFC champions Sean Strickland and Francis Ngannou.
