Following Andrew Tate's controversial comments on jiu-jitsu, former UFC title contender Anthony Smith has proposed a unique hybrid-rules challenge to the online figure.

The light-heavyweight is looking to get back to winning ways in his next bout after suffering a TKO in his last outing against Magomed Ankalaev in July. The veteran planned to take the fight to the Russian and test his will throughout a grueling five-round affair, but that was cut short when 'Lionheart' suffered an injury.

While discussing Andrew Tate's comments during an episode of the Believe You Me podcast with Michael Bisping, Anthony Smith decided to challenge the internet personality:

"I don't think he was all the way wrong [about his comments on jiu-jitsu]... If you're with multiple attackers, then jiu-jitsu in and of itself is a slippery slope. That's going to be tough if that's all you know or that's all you're allowed to use... I'll make you a deal. If Andrew Tate wants to have a competition, you'll be able to bite, you'll be able to scratch, and you can even have a knife, and it's just me and you and we're in a room and all I can use is jiu-jitsu and all you can do is kickbox, I'm leaving that room with whatever was in your pockets, one hundred percent."

Although it was a while back, Tate insisted that in a street fight, jiu-jitsu is essentially useless and a dangerous martial art to use. This is primarily due to the various dangers that present themselves while implementing the skillset.

Who is Anthony Smith facing next?

Anthony Smith was scheduled to compete against Jamahal Hill in a title eliminator next year. However, that fight was scrapped when the UFC placed 'Sweet Dreams' into a light heavyweight championship fight against Glover Teixeira next month.

The 34-year-old found out while on air following UFC 282, but dealt with the situation professionally and is even rumored to be helping Hill prepare for his title matchup.

Although his next opponent hasn't been revealed yet, Smith remains on the March 11 Fight Night card. He will battle against another 205er in hopes of re-entering himself into title contention.
