Hailing from Janatalap, Kazakhstan, Asu Almabayev is one of the fastest-rising prospects in the Ultimate Fighting Championship's flyweight division. Starting a professional mixed martial arts career in 2013, the 31-year-old fighter maintains a record of 21 wins and two losses in the sport, as of February 2025. The majority of his wins are via submission (nine), decision (nine), and knockout (three), respectively. Before signing up for the UFC, the Kazakhstan fighter had previously fought in other promotions like Brave FC, Fight Nights Global, Naiza FC, M-1 Challenge, Alash Pride FC, and ABC 69.

He made his promotional debut in August 2023, against Ode Osbourne at UFC on ESPN: Sandhagen vs. Font in Nashville, Tennessee, United States. Within three minutes and 11 seconds into the second round of the bout, Almabayev stopped Osbourne via a rear naked choke submission and won the fight. Since then, Asu Almabayev has gone up against other UFC flyweights like CJ Vergara, Jose Johnson, and Matheus Nicolau. Moreover, the 31-year-old fighter is currently on a 17-fight win streak in his professional career, as of February 2025.
