The No.8 ranked flyweight contender in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Asu Almabayev, hails from Kazakhstan. The 31-year-old Kazakh fighter made his professional debut when he was 19 years old in June 2013. In his professional debut, Asu Almabayev faced Vadim Buseev at R.O.D Shield and Sword 4 Moscow, Russia as a bantamweight contender. He won the bout via a unanimous decision by the judges' scorecard. Even though Almabayev suffered two consecutive losses during the early outings of his pro career, the Kazakh fighter bounced back and has not lost since April 2017. As of February 2025, he is on a 17-fight win streak in his professional MMA career.

Asu Almabayev made his octagon debut in August 2023 and had a rear naked choke submission win against Ode' Osbourne at UFC Fight Night: Sandhagen vs. Font. He also won a 'Performance of the Night' bonus for his showcase.
