Aung La N Sang believes now is the perfect time for ONE Championship to make its long-awaited debut in the United States.
On May 5, the Asia-based promotion will do exactly that when it invades the 1stBank Center in Colorado for ONE Fight Night 10 on Prime Video. ‘The Burmese Python’ will be part of the festivities as he goes for his third-straight finish inside the circle after walking through Yushin ‘Thunder’ Okami and Gilberto Galvao in his last two outings.
In an interview with the South China Morning Post, Aung La shared his thoughts on the timing of ONE Championship’s U.S. debut, particularly when the competition is reeling following the failure of its controversial, and frankly embarrassing, slap fighting league:
“It’s perfect timing, it’s perfect timing. Especially with the UFC and the crazy slap box, slap, what is it power slap thing which is a joke. Then ONE Championship is bringing the highest level of Muay Thai in four-ounce gloves. It's a perfect time.”

Aung La N Sang will step into the circle against ‘King Kong Warrior’ Fan Rong, a dangerous Chinese striker looking to get back into the win column while simultaneously stopping the Myanmar superstar's momentum:
“It’s a perfect storm for ONE Championship so we’ll see... We’ll see. And this, I mean, on my part I’mma put on a great show and the fans can expect an awesome show for sure.”
Aung La N Sang recognizes how dangerous Fan Rong is
Aung La N Sang will walk into his second fight in 2023 looking for his third straight win. ‘The Burmese Python’ is riding high after scoring back-to-back knockouts in fights that were essentially must-win situations for the former ONE two-division titleholder.
Gunning for a chance to challenge ONE middleweight world champion, Reinier de Ridder, Aung La N Sang knows he’s in another must-win situation, but he is by no means looking past his Chinese challenger, Fan Rong:
“If I can’t do my job on May 5, it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever and this test is, you can’t overlook Fan Rong, you can’t overlook that guy at all.”
‘The Burmese Python’ continued, saying:
“He has everything to gain, he has a title shot to gain if he beats me, with nothing else to lose. The only thing he could lose is probably get put in the hospital by me. But besides that, he has nothing to lose and a lot to gain. With that being said, I’m not focused on anything but that [fight].”
